appears 81 times in TRIS Online |
Endorse this heading.
It is also the lead-in term to LCSH "Traffic safety and wildlife". If adopted, RT2 to "Road kill" needed. |
|
ST: Other terms in the stew: Roadside fauna, preferred over Roadside animals, and Wildlife, which my dictionary says includes vegetation. Wildlife-vehicle collisions also appears in TRIS, but I like animal-vehicle collisions because it is more precise.
AE: Shouild be added as PT or NPT. Should consider for next round |
include as PT in Q1 2010 terms to consider notation |
| General purpose lanes
|
NTL - wait for more usage; Anne Whitney - I am indexing an item regaring single versus high occupancy lanes for WSDOT. Since it is a comparison of two different types of lanes under different conditions, I'd like to establish General purpose lanes, referred to by engineers as GP lanes. Please see: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/research/reports/fullreports/643.1.pdf 5/23/2007 |
|
|
ST: I support adding this as an NT under Traffic lanes. TTI is also using the term to distinguish from HOV lanes.
AE: Would rather see it added. WSDOT, FHWA, HSIS and HPMS use this term quite often. |
include in Q1 2010 as PT for notation review. |
| Location based services
|
wait for more usage per NTL committee conference call with MK |
|
Michael Kleiber* (see note below table) |
ST: Let's see how this evolves. Location-based to me sounds like AT the location rather than ABOUT the location. Traveler information terms can be used in the meantime. KL: This is a growing field of ITS research and applications are being developed for both AT and ABOUT the location. RT Intelligent transportation systems.
AE Agree with Kendra |
OK -- will review in December 2010 |
| Vehicular ad hoc networks (Computer networks)
|
|
Term is needed. 24 uses in TRIS. RT2 to "Vehicle to vehicle communications". Matches LCSH. |
Michael Kleiber* (see note below table) |
KL: I'm of two minds about this. The term is definitely needed, but whether or not it belongs in Facet X is debatable. It could also be just "Ad hoc networks" under "Networks" (Syn) and then post coordinated.
AE: Agree with Kendra. It is needed. Rather see this as Post coordinated Ad-Hoc Networks and Vehicles |
include in Q1 2010 as PT for notation review.
