Term Proposed by*

TRT Subcommittee Comments
Conference Call Decisions
Fracture resistance use Fracture Properties Michael Kleiber* (see note below table) AE: Is there warrant to Post up like this? PARK; Andy will forward references on usage of NPTs as equivalence or something else
High speed rail
use High speed trains
RT High speed ground transportation
I strongly urge that High speed rail be made a lead-in term for High speed trains.
UC Berkeley
KL: I would prefer to see "High speed rail" over "High speed trains". The former encompasses the track as well as the trains themselves. "High speed trains" should be revisited.
AE: Agree with Kendra
PRB: High speed rail, High speed train, and High speed ground transportation are three separate concepts, and should be used as such. High speed trains=the actual trains that run at high speeds. High speed rail=rail infrastructure that supports high speed trains. High speed ground transportation=generic term for high speed transportation in all modes.
PARK until Q1 2010 term review to allow for completion of 20-79 project ; this term will likely result in changes to notations of existing TRT terms; NTL will consult SME to address PRB's concerns
Internal organs
use Viscera

I asked the NTL to make "Internal organs" a lead-in term to "Viscera". Viscera (Mykv) is missed as a legitimate term

Michael Kleiber* (see note below table)
AE: Would rather see Internal Organs as PT and Viscera as NPT. Internal Organs is more in line with Washington State's plain talk language mandate.
PRB: should the TRT really be taking on terms well-covered in MESH anyhow? To save time and effort, not to mention the question of expertise in the domain, I'd defer this and other medical terms to MESH.
in Q1 2010: Add as PT with Viscera as NPT (basically a 1-1 switch)
Local laws
use Ordinances
This was requested by mkleiber as a lead-in term to "Ordinances" (Cred).
Michael Kleiber* (see note below table)
AE: Needs Discussion. An Ordinance could be local, state or federal. Do we want to not differentiate between them in indexing?
KL: Agree with AE.
PRB: always favors granularity.
PARK -- needs further research like taxation facet; review laws, legislation, and regulation facet
Structural failures
use Failure
AE: Agree
Decline -- not a close enough equivalence relationship between structural failures and failure (failure is very broad)
*NOTE: terms proposed by column may be inaccurate as the last person to edit an item in TRIS system is listed as person who porposed the term. This will be corrected in future quarterly reviews.
